The 2009 Mazda 3
Mazda have built themselves quite a reputation for building inexpensive cars that are a lot of fun to drive. The 2009 Mazda 3 is certainly no exception to this. The car has the handling of a small sports car despite the fact that the target market is clearly as a family car. With a low price tag it is hard to go wrong with the Mazda 3.
The 2009 Mazda 3 is the smallest and least expensive car that the company makes but they have found a way to market it that has really made the car stand out from the competition. In a class where most of the other cars are rather dull low cost cars Mazda has set themselves apart by making the car almost like a small sports car. In fact with some of the options that are available it really can be a fairly high performance vehicle at a remarkably low price. However the main purpose of the Mazda 3 is to be a low cost family car.
There are a number of different engine options available for the Mazda 3 with the top of the line version being a turbocharged 2.3 litre engine that produces 263 horsepower. This will certainly give you quite the performance and really allow you to think of the Mazda 3 as a sports car. Most buyers will choose a less powerful engine option but regardless the performance of the car is outstanding. The handling is also at a higher level than most of the other cars in its class. The Mazda 3 is in one of the most competitive classes there is and everybody is looking for ways to stand out. Mazda does it by making their cars sportier than their competition.
Of course there has to be a trade off somewhere. In the case of the Mazda 3 it is in interior space. Compared to the other cars in its class it doesn’t have a lot of space inside. It isn’t miles behind in this respect but you will definitely notice that it does appear to be more cramped than its competitors. On the other hand the interior does tend to be better appointed that most of the cars that it is competing with. Again this is going to depend largely on which options you choose.
Over all most people find the Mazda 3 to be a fun little car that really performs for a fairly low price tag. It probably isn’t the most practical option if you have a large family but for the smaller family it is an excellent option. The car may be a little sportier than some people would like for a family car. However if you need to have a car to get the kids around and you don’t want to give up the fun of driving a sports car the 2009 Mazda 3 may be an excellent option.
